Although Kelly Clarkson and fiancé Brandon Blackstock are both over the moon about their engagement, don’t be surprised if the couple runs off and elopes.
“[Clarkson] said a while back, 'Don't be surprised if we elope!' And I said, 'I will not be surprised!'" said Blackstock’s step mother Reba McEntire according to Us Weekly.
Maybe small weddings run in the family. The country singer admitted that even when she wed hubby Narvel Blackstock in 1989 she didn’t care for a large celebrity wedding.
“That was never my deal and I don't know that that's Kelly's either," McEntire said. "I've had two weddings and they were both very small. Very few people. They really weren't even weddings. We had a preacher there, but that's it."
One detail for the wedding is covered: Clarkson’s future mother-in-law will be the wedding singer.
“@kelly_clarkson And speaking of the engagement, since you are going to be my daughter-in-law, I'm singing at the wedding, right??” McEntire tweeted according to The Huffington Post.
Clarkson responded in the affirmative, with a suggestion, “My request is ‘Let's Get It On’ by Al Green. That's not awkward, right?” to which McEntire responded, “We may have to talk about that one later…”
Clarkson and Blackstock have been dating since 2011.
