The X Factor’s L.A. Reid is calling this season his last.
“I have decided that I will not return to The X Factornext year," Reid revealed during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. "I have to go back and I have a company to run that I've kind of neglected and it saddens me a little bit, but only a little bit.”
Reid is the chairman and CEO of Epic Records, the report states.
“It was a nice break, it was a nice departure from what I've done for the past 20 years, but now I gotta go back to work.”
Reid joined the show as a mentor two years ago, sitting alongside Simon Cowell and new judges Demi Lovato and Britney Spears. Reid notes that he is living on positive terms with his close friend Simon.
“I love Simon. We have a great relationship, we have fun together, we talk, we laugh, we do bad things, we're friends. I owe so much to Simon," L.A. said. "I really have a lot [of] respect for him and I always will. I support him, I support the show and I'll always be in business with him."
According to E! News, it is not clear whether or not Simon was aware that Reid was throwing in his hat as Cowell’s people have not returned to comment.
Reid will finish out this season before leaving; Tate Stevens, his final contestant will perform tonight.
