While a suspect was arrested in connection with the swatting pranks pulled on Ashton Kutcher and Justin Bieber, the Los Angeles Police Department is still investigating other cases, including the pranks pulled on Simon Cowell and Miley Cyrus.
According to The Los Angeles Times, the LAPD also said that Anger Management actor Charlie Sheen was also targeted by the calls, which sent law enforcement to their homes, responding to fake emergencies.
Lt. Marc Reina said that the juvenile arrested on Dec. 10 is not a suspect in the Cyrus and Sheen cases, which are still being investigated. However, the young boy is suspected of pulling pranks on non-celebrities. While Reina would not give any further information about the other swatting cases, he did say that one involved a bank.
It is still not known if the juvenile is connected to the Cowell case. “It's currently still under investigation; our detectives are in contact with the LAPD detectives in regard to their arrest,” Beverly Hills Police Lt. Lincoln Hoshino said Tuesday.
While officials haven’t released any information on the juvenile, that didn’t stop TMZ from doing some digging. The site found that the boy is just 12-years-old and is antisocial, preferring to communicate with a keyboard than face-to-face. He has refused to go to school and sits at the computer all day.
Children's Services have visited the boy’s apartment, according to TMZ’s sources, who say the family is “incredibly dysfunctional.”
The Los Angeles County DA will have to decide to pursue the case against the boy. Law enforcement is sympathetic to his case and hope to place him in a stable foster environment, notes TMZ.
