LeAnn Rimes responds to 'X Factor' controversey

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

LeAnn Rimes had fans questioning about her state of mind during her performance on Wednesday’s edition of The X Factor.

As we previously reported, Rimes performed alongside contestant Carly Rose Soneclar where the two sang a duet of, “How Do I Live.”

Questions arose after watching Rimes slightly stumble, slur and lean on Carly for support during the song. The young contestant even appeared to have a confused, uncomfortable look on her face during the beginning moments of Rimes’ performance.

Rimes’ lawyer, Larry Stein, spoke to TMZ, telling the media outlet, "LeAnn was not performing the way she would normally perform, because she was on stage with a young girl."

Adding, “There have been a lot of untrue things said by others and it feeds into this sort of thing."

However, Rimes took to Twitter to respond to criticism-stating that she has not given the media a quote. TMZ is now stating that Rimes’ camp is lying.

Rimes writes, “In my 18 years of performing, I have never been anything but professional onstage. It is a shame that gossip and lies are overshadowing the performance of Carly, a very talented young girl. And while I have not given any media outlet a quote, if you want one, here it is. It was an amazing opportunity to share this experience with Carly and I know I’ll be watching for her to win tonight."

What do you think of Rimes' statement?
