'Les Miserables' getting the IMAX treatment

By Matthew Dougherty,

It appears that the dream will be living a little larger this Christmas as Tom Hooper’s musical film Les Miserables will be coming to IMAX theaters just in time for the holiday in a limited number of theaters.

According to Broadway World, the film will come to IMAX in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto and Montreal on December 25, the same as its regular release. It will hit international IMAX theaters on January 10, starting in the Netherlands.

ComingSoon.net says that the film will be digitally remastered into the IMAX format.

"The enhanced visual spectrum and precise, powerful IMAX sound will transport audiences to 19th-century France, where they will feel as if they are there on set as Tom Hooper's ensemble cast performs Les Mis' classic soundtrack,” said President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment Greg Foster.

Les Miserables comes from The King’s Speech director Hooper and stars Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Samantha Barks, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.
