Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have long had a tight friendship, and despite the two men both being happily married, Damon has received his fair share of gay rumors because of his closeness with the Argo actor/director, yet he's never denied the reports.
“I never denied those rumors because I was offended and didn’t want to offend my friends who were gay, as if being gay were some kind of f--king disease. It put me in a weird position in that sense,” Damon explained.
The father of four praised the fact that such celebs as Ellen DeGeneres and Anderson Cooper have since come out in the public eye. “(T)he fact that Anderson Cooper and Ellen DeGeneres can come out so beautifully and powerfully, and it’s a big f--king deal that it turns out nobody gives a shit.”
Damon is slated to star with Michael Douglas in the Liberace based TV movie, Behind the Candelabra. Liberace long denied a homosexual past, despite a handful of lovers who came forward. Actress Betty White also admitted to covering for the famed Liberace.
“We both (Damon and Douglas) have a lot of gay friends,” Damon expressed, “and we were not going to screw this up or bullsh-t it.”
