Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera missing after air traffic control loses contact with plane

Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera is reported missing after the plane she was riding in lost contact with Air Traffic Control early Sunday Morning.

Rivera, two pilots and four passengers are reported missing and feared dead following the suspected plane crash which took place in the early Sunday morning hours CNN reports.

According to the report, Rivera’s plane took off at 3:15 a.m. and lost contact after traveling 60 miles. She was traveling from a concert she performed at in northern Mexico.

Rivera has been named one of People in Espanol’s 25 most influential women, CNN notes. She also has starred in her own reality show, I Love Jenni, which began airing on Telemundo’s mun2 network.

The 43-year-old singer debuted her album in 1999.

Since news of her disappearance surfaced, singer Gloria Estefan has taken to Twitter to express her concerns for Rivera's family and friends. She writes, “OMG! Just heard about @jennirivera Praying for her and her family during this difficult & uncertain time!”
