Former Seinfeld star Michael Richards has joined the cast of Kirstie Alley’s Giant Baby, a pilot in development for TV Land.
Deadline confirmed that the series will be Richards’ first regular gig in over a decade. After Seinfeld ended in 1998, Richards starred in The Michael Richards Show, which lasted just one season. Since then, he has only taken a few acting roles, including the Seinfeld reunion arc in Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm in 2009.
He recently reunited with Jerry Seinfeld for an episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.
As we previously reported, Alley will star in Giant Baby as Madison “Maddie” Banks, a Broadway star whose world changes when her son Arlo shows up.
Arlo will be played by Eric Petersen and Richards will play her limo driver.
Also joining the cast are Cheers’ Rhea Perlman and Brothers and Sisters actor Gilles Marini, who will guest star in the pilot. Marini could stay on in a recurring role.
Alley and Marini both competed on this past season of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.
Giant Baby was created by Ugly Betty’s Marco Pennette and continues TV Land’s goal of bringing the best sitcom actors from the past few decades back to TV. The network’s other original shows include Hot in Cleveland and The Exes.
