When Miss USA, Olivia Culpo, earned her spot as Miss Universe, the Rhodes Island native didn’t take the crown without any bumps in the road.
Culpo, the first Miss USA to take the Miss Universe crown since 1997, tripped over the fabric on her red dress during the evening gown portion of the competition, while Train was performing.
But Culpo, 20, recovered gracefully and turned what could’ve been the moment the crown slipped away to beating out 88 other women for the top honor.
"I hope my little slip last night in evening gown competition will inspire everyone this year competing! It's okay to mess up. You're human!" she said after the pageant, Entertainmentwise reports.
Furthermore, Culpo revealed that her celebrity crush was actually one of the Miss Universe pageant judges.
“My judge [Rock of Ages star Diego Boneta] is really hot. Can I just say that? And I tripped right in front of him! He's cute. He's the crush of the week. It's an ongoing thing!” she told People.
She also said of winning Miss Universe, “I don't think it's sunk in. It's incredible. I can't believe USA finally did it.”
