Earlier this month, Forbes magazine looked at the most overpaid Hollywood stars, but today the magazine revealed its list of most bankable stars. These are the people that executives should want in their movies to get the most bang for the buck.
Forbes found that for every $1 a studio pays Black Swan actress Natalie Portman, she makes the studio $42.70. That’s much better than Eddie Murphy, who Forbes called the most overpaid actor. The comedian makes a studio just $2.30 for every $1 he is paid.
The magazine based today’s list on data from Box Office Mojo and its own Celebrity 100 list. They also looked at the last three films an actor starred in, so for Portman, Forbes looked at Black Swan, No Strings Attached and Your Highness.
Since Black Swan was such a big hit and earned Portman her first Oscar, Portman easily earned the top spot. Twilight actress Kristen Stewart, who also appeared in the Universal tentpole Snow White and the Huntsman, earned the No. 2 spot. She averages out to $40.60 per $1 paid.
The highest-ranking male star is Shia LaBeouf, who returns $35.80 for every $1. Stewart’s Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson followed with $31.70 per $1. Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe earned back $30.50, while Taylor Lautner (another Twilight star) earned back $29.50.
Other stars who made it onto the list include Bradley Cooper ($25); Dwayne Johnson ($22.70); Amy Adams ($22.60) and Kevin James ($22.40).
Last week, Forbes called Robert Downey Jr. the top-grossing actor of 2012, since Marvel’s The Avengers grossed an amazing $1.5 billion worldwide.
