New Piers Morgan petition calls for keeping him in U.S. because ‘No one in the UK wants him back’

While the White House has officially acknowledged the serious petitions about gun control on its We The People site, the petition that has gained the most attention lately has been one that calls for CNN host Piers Morgan to be deported because of his anti-gun stance. A new petition has popped up, calling for President Obama to keep Morgan in the country.

The new petition, titled “Keep Piers Morgan in the USA,” was created on Tuesday. According to The Huffington Post, it lists three reasons to keep the British host here.

“Firstly, the first amendment,” it reads. “Second and the more important point. No one in the UK wants him back.”

The third reason is, “It will be hilarious to see how loads of angry Americans react.”

The petition has a long way to go though before Obama can consider it. It has just 479 signatures and needs to hit 25,000 before the White House can respond. Meanwhile, the one calling for his deportation is up to 73,000.

Morgan has been laughing off the petition on Twitter. He wrote on Tuesday, “Merry Christmas! Even to those who want me deported.”

For those wondering if the White House actually responds to these petitions, Obama recently mentioned the serious ones related to gun control following the Newtown, Connecticut tragedy.
