Patrick Dempsey plans to save a Washington coffee shop chain

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

Grey’s Anatomy actor Patrick Dempsey is reaching out to save a Washington coffee shop chain and hundreds of jobs.

A rep for the handsome actor confirms to E! News that Dempsey plans to put a bid in for the struggling coffee shop chain, Tully’s Coffee.

According to the report, Tully’s filed for bankruptcy in October and the chain is also considering closing stores that are not performing as expected.

In a statement Dempsey explains, “I'm excited about the opportunity to save hundreds of jobs, give back to Seattle and become a larger part of the economic growth and fabric of the community. I've always loved this city, and with the purchase of Tully's Coffee, I plan to spend a lot of time in Seattle and at the stores connecting with the community and growing the Tully's brand. It looks like Seattle may be my home away from home in the very near future.”

The bankruptcy and reorganization is explained on the company's website. “We plan to close a number of unprofitable stores in the near future. We are currently in the process of identifying those stores, but we will continue to have a formidable presence in the Puget Sound area,” the report reads.

E! reports that the business will go up for bid January 3.
