Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, has left the hospital after being treated for acute morning sickness. She had been at the King Edward VII hospital in London since Monday, when St. James Palace announced that she and Prince William are expecting their first child.
William and Kate were all smiles as they left the hospital, with Kate clutching a bouquet of flowers as they slowly walked down the steps. Kate was seen nodding her head as the press asked her if she was doing better, reports The BBC.
“Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank the staff at the hospital for the care and treatment the Duchess has received,” St. James Palace said in a statement.
St. James Palace said that the couple are heading back to Kensington Palace “for a period of rest,” notes CNN.
Kate is only around 12 weeks pregnant and the palace was forced to make it official Monday when she was admitted to the hospital.
The news also comes after two Australian DJs made headlines by calling into the hospital, pretending to be Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles and managed to get information from Kate’s nurse. The radio station later apologized and the hospital called it a “foolish prank.”
Kate will likely not attend royal engagements in the immediate future, but Prince William is expected to continue to attend events.
