Amir Johnson, a forward for the Toronto Raptors, was ejected in last night’s game against the Portland Trailblazers. Johnson had an odd obsession with touching the ball before it was either inbounded or given to a player to shoot free throws, and on one occasion he tussled with a referee for it and was thrown out.
According to Yahoo! Sports, Johnson said an in interview, "I guess the ref didn't let me have the ball so we kind of got into a tug of war. No words were really said and he rejected me out of the game and I kind of lost my cool from there."
This incident was seen as very odd and unusual because it Johnson doesn’t usually lose his temper or obsess over touching the ball. Many players in the league do have routines, but sometimes they have to be broken when officials get in the way. How the player reacts next, is his choice, but if it’s too much for the officials liking, then he will be ejected, and that’s what happened to Johnson.
After the game Johnson came to the realization of how foolish his actions were. The Associated Press reports that Johnson said, "I think it was just really childish. It was something that didn't need to happen."
