The popular video game Angry Birds will be flying off smart phones and onto the big screen. Angry Birds producer Rovio Entertainment revealed an animated movie will come to a theater near you summer 2016.
The film is soaring in the right direction, hiring John Cohen, producer of the box-office hit Despicable Me, as the film’s producer. David Maisel, former Chairman of Marvel Studios and executive producer of Iron Man, will be flying by his side as the executive producer of the film.
Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio Entertainment, could not be more satisfied with the production staff: "With John’s hands-on producer background and David’s expertise in establishing and running his own successful studio, these two are the dream team for making a movie outside the studio system. Both professionals have the ideal skills and vision to achieve incredible things," reports NBC News.
According to MTV.com, Cohen is an Angry Birds enthusiast whose hours of gaming are now paying off as research for the upcoming movie. He can’t wait to start working with Hed, Maisel, and “Rovio’s incredibly talented game developers and artists."
