1990’s musical fans unite, the Spice Girls are storming back into the spotlight with the launch of their Viva Forever musical.
As we previously reported, the musical, announced in June, will focus on the lives of the Spice Girls; Posh Spice, Baby Spice, Scary Spice, Sporty Spice and Ginger Spice trying to make it big on a X Factor-like show.
Rolling Stone reports that the musical debuted Tuesday evening in London. The Spice Girls were sure to address the crowd after the performance concluded sending thanks to their cast and crew for “making the Spice Girls dream come true.”
Mel Brown gushed to Rolling Stone, “The whole show is about a celebration. It's fun and very passionate and exciting and that's what Mamma Mia is also. [Although] I don't think you can compare [the two] . . . you would hope that it's going to be as successful. All you can do is hope and wait and see."
Viva Forever has largely been received with negative reviews from their performance to the musical choice, however the Rolling Stone does note that the girls get in a fair share of jokes, quips and hot dance numbers.
"It's funny and warm but it's clever . . . It exceeded my expectations. It blew me away because, imagine if you have a dream and it actually materializes; to actually digest it was absolutely phenomenal,” states Gerri Halliwell.
