In March, moviegoers will get to see Steve Carell and Jim Carrey battle it out with magic in Warner Bros.’ The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. The studio released the trailer for the film on Thursday.
In the film, Carell stars as the title character, one-half of a Siegfried & Roy-esque team in Las Vegas (Steve Buscemi plays his partner). His career is in a downward spiral, with ticket sales plummeting, mostly thanks to the the extremely popular new tricks pulled off by his competition, played by Jim Carrey. Alan Arkin stars as Wonderstone’s idol. Olivia Wilde and James Gandolfini also star.
The film reunites Carell and Carrey, who starred together in Bruce Almighty and voiced the main characters in Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears A Who.
In an interview with USA Today, Carell talked about the wigs he wore in the film, including a mullet.
“This is a first, even in real life,” Carell said. “I never achieved mullet-ness in all of my years. It's pretty fantastic, isn't it? There is actually a multitude of scintillating looks that I rock in this movie, from the mullet to the lion's mane to a frosted coif.”
Director Don Scardino joked that the film is all about the wigs. “The hair budget was killer. Jim Carrey wears a really outrageous one,” he said.
David Copperfield worked on the film as a consultant, creating an elaborate hangman body-switch trick. "It's a great trick, very impressive,” Scardino said.
The film hits theaters on March 15. You can check out the trailer below:
