Top Ten Songs of 2012

I’m a music carnivore. I’m always on the prowl for new and exciting songs that I can carry around on my iPhone and rock out to in my car. So naturally, 2012 was a fantastic year for all sorts of music and since I own most of these songs, I felt it was only right to share my top ten favorite songs with you.

10. Ellie Goulding: "Lights"
I first heard this song while abroad in England and have been in love with it, ever since. Once it hit the airwaves in the U.S. every radio station played this upbeat and sometimes remixed version all night long.

9. Demi Lovato: "Give Your Heart A Break"
This inspirational song came out after Lovato checked herself into rehab. This song is insightful and heartfelt and moves Lovato from being a teen queen to a mature, adult singer.

8. Maroon 5: "Payphone"
This song graced all stations this past year and I’m sure that we are all wondering where Adam Levine found a payphone. This upbeat song breaks our heart one quarter into the payphone at a time.

7. Calvin Harris "Feel So Close"
This club song is both mesmerizing and moving. The sound is harmonized with the music that can make anyone stop and smile. This is one of my favorites for the year.

6. Flo Rida Ft. Sia: "Wild Ones"
This song can make anyone stop and start singing in the middle of the room. This upbeat, catchy song is the dance anthem of the summer.

5. Gotye: "Somebody That I Used To Know"
This song speaks to all of us, in so many ways. It’s personal and introduces us to a new voice on the radio.

4. Jessie J: "Domino"
This song can make anyone smile and lift their spirit. Jessie J sings this song with such soul and energy.

3. Rihanna: "We Found Love"
Being such a popular song, it was picked up by Glee. This song is upbeat and perfect for any dance party.

2. Kelly Clarkson: "Stronger"
No one screams independent woman like Ms. Clarkson. This song put her voice back on the radio for months. It was the anthem of every single girl.

1. Fun.: "We Are Young"
This new and exciting band came bursting to the scene with this extremely catchy song. That was the bar anthem for the summer.

I can’t wait to hear the top 2013 songs, but for now I’m going to sit back and listen to my top ten choices.
