The Walking Dead not only dominates television, but video games as well. The Walking Dead game, based on the comics series that also inspired the hit AMC series, won the top prize at Spike TV’s 10th annual Video Game Awards, which aired last night.
Actor Samuel L. Jackson hosted the show for the fourth time, reports Entertainment Weekly. He warned the producers right away, “Whoever’s in charge of the bleep button, keep your finger ready,” a promise he certainly kept.
Jessica Alba, Zoë Saldana and Jack Black and Tenacious D also made appearances, as did cast members of The Walking Dead. According to The HD Room, actors Steven Yuen, Norman Reedus and Danai Gurira were presenters and creator Robert Kirkman was in the audience.
The Walking Dead: The Game won Game of the Year, Studio of the Year (Telltale Games), Best Downloadable Game, Best Performance by a Human Female (Melissa Hutchison as Clementine) and Best Adapted Video Game.
The Walking Dead: The Game was just one of the downloadable games that dominated the show. Journey also came home with three wins, including Best Independent Game and Best PS3 Game.
also won the Best Shooter, beating favorites like Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The game, from Gearbox, also won Best Multiplayer, Best Performance by a Human Male and Best Character.
Best XBox 360 Game went to Halo 4, while the Best Wii Game was named New Super Mario Bros. U.
Half-Life 2 was recognized as Game of the Decade.
