Will 'How I Met Your Mother' get signed for a nineth season?

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

CBS hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother is currently awaiting to hear if the show will sign on for the 2013-2014 season.

HIMYM is currently in its final year of license deal with the network for both cast and creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays Deadline reports.

According to the report, Bays and Carter requested a decision be reached by the end of the month. The reason behind the request is that if CBS opts to not have the show return for a ninth season, show creators must find a way to build up to final ending where Josh Radnor’s character, Ted Mosby, “meets” the mother of his children in which the storyline is centered.

Deadline notes that CBS has been vocal about its desire to keep the sitcom saying in August, “We’re having conversations right now about extending it, we want the show to come back next year.”

However, if that idea still stands remains uncertain.

HIMYM casts the likes of Alyson Hannigan, Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders as well as Radnor.
