The X Factor two-hour performance finale gave Fox a much-needed ratings victory Wednesday night, while the Miss Universe pageant experienced growth over last year.
Fox won the night with 8.3 million viewers and a 2.7 18-49 rating for the two-hour X Factor. While it was easily enough to beat the repeats on the other networks, those numbers aren’t that impressive for the show and were an 18 percent drop from last year’s performance finale, notes Entertainment Weekly.
The Miss Universe pageant helped NBC come in second, with the network averaging 6.27 million viewers and a 1.8 18-49 rating. the first hour of the show drew 5.52 million viewers during its first hour, climbing to 6.73 million viewers for the second hour. Overall, it drew a 1.8 18-49 rating, a 13 percent jump over last year, notes The Wrap. Chicago Fire took advantage of a CSI repeat, climbing to 6.6 million viewers and a 1.9 18-49 rating.
CBS averaged 5.76 million viewers and a 1.1 18-49 rating, reports HitFix. A Home For The Holidays had 5 million viewers and a 0.9 18-49 rating. Criminal Minds and CSI repeats followed.
ABC was also mostly repeats, averaging 5.24 million viewers and a 1.5 18-49 rating. A 90-minute 20/20: The Year With Katie Couric special had 5.4 million viewers and a 1.6 18-49 rating.
The CW’s Noel holiday movie had 1.62 million viewers and a 1.1 18-49 rating.
