Fall singing competition winners will go head-to-head on New Year’s Eve, with Tate Stevens now tapped to perform during Fox’s New Year’s Eve Live! special, while The Voice’s Cassadee Pope will perform for NBC.
Phillip Phillips, who won the latest season of American Idol earlier this year, was originally slated to perform for Fox, but had to back out, reports Entertainment Weekly. Stevens, who was crowned the season two winner of The X Factor this month, will replace him.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox’s special will air live from the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Comedian Marlon Wayans will host alongside Carmen Electra. Lifehouse is also set to perform. The special runs 90-minutes and Fox will also cover the Times Square ball drop at midnight.
Stevens was mentored by L.A. Reid and won the $5 million recording contract with Sony Music.
