This year’s Golden Globes was a big success. Hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, it is the top rated Globes in six years, with 19.7 million viewers and a 6.4 in the 18-49 demo rating.
TV Guide reported that compared to last year’s Golden Globes, hosted by Ricky Gervais, there was a growth of 17 percent (around 2.8 million) in viewers and 28 percent in the demo.
Credits go to this year’s hosts: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Their first gig co-hosting was funny and impressive. In their opening monologue, they interacted with Ben Affleck and launched jokes at James Cameron, Anne Hathaway and Quentin Tarantino.
The ceremony and red carpet also drew 3.6 million tweets, according to Hollywood Reporter. Over a 24-hour period, there were about 4.2 million tweets related to the Globes.
The top three tweeted moments are: Jennifer Lawrence's winning moment for Silver Linings Playbook, Anne Hathaway’s for Les Miserables and Lincoln's introduction from former President Bill Clinton.
