Adam Levine to host ‘Saturday Night Live’ with Kendrick Lamar

By Daniel S Levine,

Although Maroon 5 has performed on NBC’s Saturday Night Live before, lead singer Adam Levine has not hosted the show, until now. Later this month, the Voice mentor and judge will host an episode of the long-running sketch comedy show.

Levine will host SNL’s Jan. 26 episode. Hip hop star Kendrick Lamar will be the musical guest.

As MTV notes, Levine and Maroon 5 were musical guests in 2004, 2007, 2011 and 2012. Levine’s appearance comes before The Voice returns for its fourth season in March. While Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera will be leaving, Levine and Blake Shelton are sticking around for another season.

NBC also confirmed today that Silver Linings Playbook actress Jennifer Lawrence will host the first episode of 2013 on Jan. 19. SNL actually let it slip last month during the final episode of 2012.

The Lumineers, who received two Grammy nominations for their hit debut album and are known for the hit “Ho Hey,” will be the musical guest during Lawrence’s episode.

Lamar released his debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d city, to critical acclaim in October.

Both musical acts are making their SNL debuts.

Although these are the only guests confirmed for 2013 so far, Justin Bieber sent out a cryptic tweet on Wednesday that read, “2013. what's coming? #snl ???”
