When American Idol took their auditions to Chicago, which aired on the second episode of the 12th season of the show, one contestant stood out among a sea of many.
Lazaro Arbos, 21, touched the hearts of judges Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj when he demonstrated that his stutter completely went away when he opened his mouth to sing.
The ice cream shop employee from Naples, Florida sang "Bridge Over Troubled Water” for the judges and simply blew them away, needless to say he made it through to Hollywood.
MTV News reports that Arbos had the stutter since he was a child growing up in Cuba, but he says music melts away his insecurities.
"Your story is very, very inspiring, I think you brought a really great vibe into the room," Minaj said after his audition. "I think you have a beautiful voice," Carey added. "You're adorable, you're gonna do great!"
If you missed Arbos’ audition and all of the others on the new 2-hour episode last night, check out our recap.
