‘American Idol’ ratings dip only slightly thanks to ‘Glee’ return, Fox wins Thursday

Fox won another victory in the ratings on Thursday night thanks to American Idol and the return of Glee. Elsewhere, 30 Rock’s penultimate episode was up and ABC’s Last Resort ended on a high note for a cancelled show.

Fox averaged 11.21 million viewers and a 3.9 18-49 rating on the night. Idol drew 15.53 million viewers and a 5.1 18-49 rating, just a half-point drop from last week’s Thursday show, notes THR. Glee jumped 35 percent from its last new episode to 6.9 million viewers and a 2.7 key demo rating.

Despite all repeats, CBS came in second with 9.26 million viewers and a 2.0 18-49 rating, notes Hitfix.

ABC came in third with 6.66 million viewers and a 2.0 18-49 rating. Last Resort’s final episode was up to 5.39 million viewers and a 1.2 18-49 rating. Grey’s Anatomy followed with 8.75 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating. A Scandal repeat capped off the night.

NBC averaged 3.78 million viewers and a 1.3 18-49 rating. 30 Rock jumped to 3.84 million viewers and a 1.4 18-49 rating. Next week, an hour-long episode closes the curtain on the series. Parks and Recreation followed with 3.89 million viewers and a 1.7 18-49 rating, while The Office drew 4.19 million and a 2.0 rating. 1600 Penn had 3.32 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating. Rock CenteR ended the night with 3.7 million and a 0.8 18-49 rating.

The CW’s Vampire Diaries had 2.74 million viewers and a 1.3 18-49 rating. Beauty and the Beast followed with 1.8 million and a 0.7 key demo rating.
