Ann Romney passes on opportunity to compete on 'Dancing with the Stars'

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

Former First Lady hopeful Ann Romney has passed on the opportunity to compete on Dancing with the Stars.

Romney is a big fan of the ABC dancing hit, but ultimately passed on the opportunity after revealing that she was “very interested,” TMZ reports.

A rep for Romney tells TMZ, "Ann Romney was approached, but she declined. She will not be appearing on Dancing with the Stars.”

According to ABC, Mrs. Romney is such a fan that she even attended the season finale of DWTS’s “All Star” edition where she watched Melissa Rycroft, and dancing partner Tony, take home the coveted mirror ball trophy.

Although Romney did not offer a reason as to why she didn’t accept the position on the show, Huffington Post notes that she previously battled with MS, an inflammatory disease that she has reportedly suffered from for the last 14 years.

HuffPo notes that Dancing with the Stars returns March 18.
