Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Lopez and Anderson Cooper rally behind Beyonce in defense of lip syncing reports

By Gina DiFalco,

There’s been some mixed reactions on news that Beyonce might’ve lip synced the national anthem at President Obama’s second inauguration this week.

But singers such as Aretha Franklin and Jennifer Lopez are rallying behind the “Single Ladies” singer in her defense.

“I thought it was funny because the weather down there was about 46 or 44 degrees and for most singers that is just not good singing weather...” Franklin told ABC News about hearing the news reports. “When I heard that I just really cracked up. I thought it was really funny, but she did a beautiful job with the pre-record.”

The New York Daily News reports that she continued about her own performance at the 2009 inauguration, "I wanted to give people the real thing and pre-recording never crossed my mind.”

Lopez appeared on The Daily Show and defended Beyonce, saying “Sometimes it happens when you are in certain stadiums and certain venues and things, they do pre-record stuff because you're going to have that terrible slapback,” Fox News reports.

Furthermore, The Huffington Post reports that CNN’s Anderson Cooper also commented on the fiasco, saying “As far as I'm concerned, it is Beyonce's world and we are just living in it," adding, "We got to look at Beyonce's beautiful face and hear Beyonce's beautiful voice ... There is only one thing we should be saying today and that is: 'Thank you, Beyonce.'"
