A touching moment occurred during this year’s Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.
Army Sgt. First Class Eric Pazz surprised his wife, Miriam Pazz, and their 4-year-old son as he hid on the Natural Balance Pet Foods float and gave them the surprise of a lifetime.
According to ABC News, Miriam attended the parade because she had been told she won a contest, but little did she know that her husband, who had been in Afghanistan, would be there to surprise her.
Before he surprised her, Miriam said “My husband just entered his name, I guess. I just got a call letting me know that we won.”
Eric had been riding on the float with other service members and when it got near his wife and son, also named Eric, he walked off to reunite with her.
“It was a really great experience,” said Pazz, 32, who hadn’t seen his family in seven months. “First thing I thought was, ‘I hope she’s not going to slap me for lying to her.’ After that, seeing our son’s face, how he reacted, I was really caught up into the moment.”
According to The Huffington Post, the reunion was put together by the military and Natural Balance, and it had been being planned for seven months. Eric, however, didn’t know about it until five weeks ago.
Miriam and Eric Jr. live on a military base in Germany, and made the trip to California when her husband told her she had won an all-expense paid trip to see the parade.
The family then finished out the parade on the “Canines with Courage" float – this time all together.
