Ashley Judd and husband Dario Franchitti are separating

Ashley Judd and her IndyCar racer husband Dario Franchitti have confirmed that they are separating after eleven years of marriage.

The couple told People on Tuesday, "We have mutually decided to end our marriage. We'll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed."

There is no word yet on whether the couple will divorce or seek legal separation, E! News confirmed.

After two years of dating, the Kiss the Girls actress married Franchitti in December 2001 in a private ceremony in Franchitti's native Scotland.

At the wedding, Judd's sister, Wynonna, was reportedly the maid of honor, and the groom's brother was his best man.

In a 2009 interview with Redbook, Judd described her future ex-husband as having a loving character and one who is "very studious about cars."

When asked whether Franchitti's job worried her, the 41-year-old actress said that she "made a decision early on not to worry, because it would be a terrible way to live."

They do not have any children together.
