Ashton Kutcher takes health risk to portray Steve Jobs in biopic

By Elizabeth O'Laughlin,

Ashton Kutcher took some extreme measures in portraying Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic about the Apple co-founder, jOBS. He jeopardized his health in order to adhere to the fruit-only diet that Jobs himself practiced.

Kutcher was hospitalized two days before filming began, due to severe pain from the risky diet.

He told USA Today, “My pancreas levels were completely out of whack, It was really terrifying ... considering everything."

Terrifying indeed. Jobs died of pancreatic cancer in October 2011.

Besides the fruitarian diet, Kutcher studied hundreds of hours of videos of Jobs in order to capture his physical demeanor, according to Zap2it. He even got down to Jobs’ hunched walk.

Kutcher pointed out similarities between himself and Jobs, citing a shared deep interest in the tech space, as well as perseverance to succeed.

"He's a guy that failed and got back on the horse," stated Kutcher. "I think we can all sort of relate to that in some place in our life where we are moving forward with something and we fall down. You have to have the guts to get back up and go again. I think I share that as well."
