Ashton Kutcher may have taken his most recent role a little too seriously.
Kutcher, who plays Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in the upcoming film jOBS, was sent to the hospital after eating a fruit-only diet for the role. The diet was similar to the one Jobs ate himself before dying of pancreatic cancer in 2011.
"First of all, the fruitarian diet can lead to, like, severe issues. I went to the hospital, like, two days before we started shooting the movie. I was, like, doubled over in pain,” Kutcher told USA Today. “My pancreas levels were completely out of whack. It was really terrifying ... considering everything.”
The Two and a Half Men star spent a lot of time researching Jobs to perfect his role as the co-founder of Apple.
“I watched hundreds of hours of footage and listened to speeches to prepare,” Kutcher said to NY Daily News. “I talked to Steve’s friends and deconstructed how he became that guy.”
jOBSpremiered at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday night and was very well received by viewers. The film is set to hit theaters in April 2013.
