Barbara Walters hospitalized from fall

By Shay Trotter,

ABC’s Barbara Walters has been hospitalized after falling and hitting her head at an inauguration party in Washington, D.C. on Saturday night.

According to Zap2it a spokesman for ABC News, Jeffrey Schneider, confirmed that she was injured but with only a cut on her forehead.

In a statement he said, "Out of an abundance of caution, she went to the hospital to have her cut tended to, have a full examination and remains there for observation. Barbara is alert (and telling everyone what to do), which we all take as a very positive sign."

However, ABC did not announce when Walters would be released from the hospital.

The 83-year-old had been at the home of Britain's ambassador to the U.S., Peter Westmacott, when the accident occurred, the Associated Press reported.

Back in May of 2010, Walters had to have heart surgery, but was quick to return to her role on the show The View. She commented on the issue with, "I'm fine!"
