Benjamin Millepied named new director of Paris Opera Ballet, wife Natalie Portman and son Aleph to move to Paris

Black Swan actress Natalie Portman is prepping to move to Paris after her husband Benjamin Millepied was named the new director of the Paris Opera Ballet.

According to E! News, Millepied is slated to take on the new title in September 2014.

Millepied confirmed that he, along with Portman and their seven month old son Aleph, will be moving to Paris following the announcement of his new title.

New York Times reports that the announcement was made official Thursday morning in preparation of the retirement of Brigitte Lefevre, the director of dance at the Paris Opera since 1995. NY Times notes the announcement that Millepied would be Lefevre’s successor comes as a surprise as many speculated that someone in the company would take on the title.

Millepied commented on the honor stating, “I certainly knew about the position, but I also knew that there were candidates from within the company. I was surprised, but I felt very quickly that the artistic dialogue between us was an exciting one. After a while I did feel there was a really good chance I might get the position. Which made my head spin.”

The couple has not announced when they plan to move.
