Beyonce, James Taylor and Kelly Clarkson have been chosen to perform at President Obama’s second inauguration. While Beyonce will sing the national anthem, Taylor will sing “America the Beautiful” and the newly-engaged Clarkson will sing “My Country, 'Tis of Thee.”
Beyonce will have a busy schedule ahead of her, as she’s also slated to perform at the halftime of the Super Bowl in February. She is an avid Obama supporter, having sang “At Last” at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball four years ago.
USA Today reports that at President Obama’s first inaugural ceremony in 2009, Aretha Franklin sang “My Country, 'Tis of Thee."
It’s estimated that more than 1 million people will watch the President take the oath of office on Jan. 20 on the steps on the Capitol steps at the White House. In 2009, 1.8 million people watched the first African American president get sworn in.
MTV News reports that there will be more announcements to come about the entertainment for that day.
