Rowan Blanchard has just landed a gig that could make her a TV star. The 11-year-old has been cast to play Cory and Topanga’s daughter in Disney’s Boy Meets World spinoff Girl Meets World.
Entertainment Weekly reported that the Spy Kids: All the Time in World in 4D actress landed the role or Riley Matthews, which will be the focus of the new series. Blanchard was chosen after the show’s producers conducted a nationwide search for the perfect actress.
“As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews,” producer Michael Jacobs told the site. “Rowan is real and accessible and I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well.”
Since then, she has retweeted and replied to several congratulatory messages from fans.
Girl Meets World is still in the pilot stage. Production is set to start next month, with both Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel returning to their Boy Meets World roles. Disney expects to premiere the show during the 2013-14 season on the Disney Channel.
