Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have officially called off their engagement.
Spear’s rep, Jeff Raymond tells People, “Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have mutually agreed to end their one-year engagement. As two mature adults, they came to the difficult decision to go their separate ways while continuing to remain friends."
Spears and Trawick have also released statements in light of the split. The former X Factor judge states, “Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement.I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends."
Adds Trawick, "As this chapter ends for us a new one begins. I love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever.
According to TMZ, Trawick has officially been removed as the 31-year-old singers co-conservator and her father Jamie has since been reinstated.
News of their split comes just hours after Spears confirmed she would not return as a judge for The X Factor; news of her stepping down arose yesterday.
Trawick was long a supporter of Spears' role in the hit talent competition show. The two became engaged in 2011. Sources tell TMZ that the reason behind the split is that they simply “grew apart.”
