Chris Brown joins growing list of celebrity ‘swatting’ victims

By Daniel S Levine,

Singer Chris Brown was the victim of a ‘swatting’ prank, the latest in a long line to hit celebrities in Los Angeles.

The incident took place on Monday, according to The Los Angeles Times. Police received a call just before 5 p.m. about an emergency at Brown’s home, saying that his mother might have been shot.

When they arrived, they quickly discovered that nothing had happened when Brown’s staff met them at the front door, notes E! News.

While Brown was not at home, his parents later showed and cooperated with the police investigation.

Unlike Kim Kardashian, who blasted the pranksters who targeted her family’s Malibu home, Brown did not tweet about the incident.

Brown and Kardashian join Ashton Kutcher, Charlie Sheen, Justin Bieber and Tom Cruise on the list of A-listers who have been targeted by ‘swatting’ pranksters. In all cases, a prankster calls the police with an emergency, sending SWAT teams to the celeb’s homes only to find no emergencies. A young, unidentified boy has been arrested in connection with the pranks on the homes of Kutcher, Bieber and Sheen.
