Audiences will not see Chris Cuomo reporting stories on ABC’s 20/20 anymore. Cuomo is officially leaving ABC and joining CNN.
Jeff Zucker, President of CNN Worldwide, announced this news on Tuesday, Jan. 29. Aceshowbitz reported that Zucker made a statement, fully praising and giving credit to Cuomo. Cuumo himself said that “It’s very difficult to leave ABC News," but he added “I am excited about my future with CNN.”
Aceshowbitz continues, talking Cuomo’s position in CNN. He will likely host a morning show with current evening anchor Erin Burnett.
After Cuomo left, ABC announced that David Muir will take the place in 20/20, co-anchoring with Elizabeth Vargas. Muir will still continue his previous position as World News weekend anchor, reported Hollywood Reporter.
Before anchoring in the Emmy-Award-winning newsmagazine 20/20, Cuomo was the news anchor for Good Morning America from 2006 to 2009. He was also a chief law and justice correspondent for ABC News. Cuomo has received several Emmy Award nominations and awards including a Polk and a Peabody Award for his investigative reporting, reported CNN Pressroom.
