The nominees for GLAAD’s annual Media Awards were announced today. Three shows co-created by Glee’s Ryan Murphy earned nominations, as did the films Cloud Atlas and The Perks of Being A Wallflower.
GLAAD honors the best in media over the past year that has shown positive depictions of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, as well as important issues for the LGBT community.
The group has two movie categories for limited releases and wide releases. Cloud Atlas, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, ParaNorman and Your Sister’s Sister are the nominees in the wide category. The limited nominees include Any Day Now, Keep The Lights On, Mosquita y Mari, North Sea Texas and Musical Chairs.
TV shows recognized by the group include Murphy’s The New Normal, American Horror Story and Glee. Go On, Modern Family and True Blood also earned nominations.
Frank Ocean, Adam Lambert, Gossip, Rufus Wainwright and Scissor Sisters were nominated for Outstanding Music artist.
USA Today reports that Good Morning America, Sports Illustrated, USA Today and Seventeen earned journalism nods.
GLAAD will host awards ceremonies in New York (March 16), LA (April 20) and San Francisco (May 11) to hand out awards.
