The long-awaited lineup for this year’s Coachella Music and Arts Festival has just been announced. The show’s three nightly headliners will be Blur on Friday, a Phoenix reunion on Saturday, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers will cap off the festival on Sunday night.
The world-renowned festival will take place over two weekends in the second and third weeks of April in Indio, California, just outside of Palm Springs.
Other noteworthy acts that will perform are New Order, Lou Reed, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Social Distortion. Big names in hip-hop include Wu-Tang Clan and Jurassic 5, performing on separate days.
The Rolling Stones were rumored for weeks to be one of the Coachella headliners, but sources close to the band told Rolling Stone last week that they will not perform.
Tickets go on sale next Tuesday at 10 a.m., and often go quickly, despite the festival being expanded to 2 weekends last year. According to the >Los Angeles Times, most of the tickets were already sold in a pre-sale in May.
Coachellla has become a prime target for ticket scalpers because of its wide popularity. Initial ticket purchasing tends to be intensely competitive, and tickets are usually re-listed within several minutes of the initial sale on sites like Stub Hub. Most go for double the face value, and some go as high as several thousand dollars.
