Beyonce has been praised up and down for her touching performance of the national anthem at Monday’s Presidential Inauguration. But did she really sing live? A Marine Corps band member has made a statement claiming that Beyonce did lip-synch our nation’s song.
According to The New York Post, a rep for the band, Kristin DuBois, said, “All music is pre-recorded for the ceremony because there are so many eventualities and conditions that day.” DuBois followed it up saying, “But we received last-minute word that Beyonce was going to use the pre-recorded vocal track. Those were the instructions we were given.”
Beyonce made the moment even more theatrical when she reached her hand up and ripped her earpiece from her ear. Yahoo reported that weather may have been a deciding factor in whether or not the singer would sing live. Beyonce’s reps could not be reached for comments. The temperature did not stop American Idol’s first winner, Kelly Clarkson, from belting out "My Country, 'Tis of Thee (America)." The New York Post received a comment from one of Clarkson’s reps stating, “"Kelly did sing live!" Kelly Clarkson’s performance can be seen below:
What do you think? Should Beyonce have sung live or played it safe?
