The end to a life in the public eye

Linda Pugash, the woman famous for her controversial marriage, has just passed away.

Pugash made headlines after she married the man who hired hit men to blind her in 1959. According to The Philadelphia Daily News , her husband Burton Pugash was married to another woman at the time. After spending 14 years in jail, however, he divorced his first wife and proposed to Linda in 1974 on live television.

Yahoo! claims that the couple “were never shy about talking about their lives.” The story was even later made into a documentary called “Crazy Love” in 2006 by Dan Klores.

Nearly 40 years after the original incident, Mr. Pugash was again accused of harassing another lover in 1997. His lover accused him of threatening her after she tried to end their five year romance, according to The Boston Globe .

And now, after a public life full of drama, Mrs. Pugash has died at the age of 75. The Boston Globe reports that Pugash died of heart failure at Long Island Jewish Hospital in Queens. Her husband Burton remains alive.
