Fox tried Ben & Kate and it just didn’t work out. The network pulled the low-rated Tuesday comedy from its schedule effective immediately.
Ben and Kate, which starred Dakota Johnson and Nat Faxon as adult siblings living together, has five episodes left to go to finish its first season. According to Entertainment Weekly, Fox claims those will air at some point, but didn’t say when.
In its place, Fox will give viewers a double dose of Raising Hope through February. The extra episodes will not be just repeats. These will be new episodes that Fox will burn off so it can end its Tuesday comedy block completely. According to Deadline, the Tuesday, 8 p.m. slot will belong to Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen starting on March 12.
Fox plans on saving Raising Hope’s hour-long season finale for a post American Idol slot on Thursday, March 28.
Even though Ben & Kate earned decent reviews, it earned poor ratings out of the gate. Some were even surprised when Fox gave it a full season order. This week’s episode earned a 1.2 18-49 rating, which was actually up 9 percent from the week before.
This news comes just a day after ABC announced that it would be pulling on if its Tuesday comedies - Don’t Trust The B--- In Apt. 23 - from its schedule.
