Fox picks up ‘Bones’ for ninth season

By Daniel S Levine,

Fox said Tuesday that its long-running crime drama Bones will be back for a ninth and final season.

“After more than 150 episodes, Bones continues to be one of television’s most dynamic and consistent dramas,” Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly said during the Television Critics Association press tour, reports The Hollywood Reporter. “We at Fox, along with millions of zealous fans, look forward to seeing where the incredible creative team takes the series next season.”

Bones is the only drama guaranteed to be around for Fox next season. Freshman drama The Mob Doctor has already been cancelled and this is Fringe’s last season. Kiefer Sutherland’s Touch, which will have a short sophomore season, has yet to start and Kevin Bacon’s Following is set to premiere later this month.

Bones stars Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz have also yet to sign on for the ninth season, but creator Hart Hanson said in September that he was “confident” that they will return.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the show’s eighth season resumes on Jan. 14 with a two-hour episode titled “The Diamond in the Rough/The Archeologist in the Cocoon.”

In other Fox news, E! News reports that the network confirmed that Seth Rogen will make an appearance on Mindy Kaling’s The Mindy Project. Rogen will appear in an episode titled “The One That Got Away.”
