Fox greenlighted two new drama pilots Wednesday, including one from Justified writer and producer Graham Yost. The other comes from Fast & Furious writer Chris Morgan.
Yost’s Wild Blue was first titled The Bridge and focuses on the lives of young members of the U.S. Navy, notes Deadline. The project began last year and was written by Justified’s Taylor Elmore. However, when another upstairs/downstairs-style military pilot on an aircraft carrier went to Fox, Elmore teamed up with Yost and Michael Dinner to rework the script.
The second is titled Gang Related and is Morgan’s second pilot of the season. He is also working on ABC’s Big Thunder, which was greenlighted by the network yesterday.
Gang Related focuses on a San Francisco Police Department officer who is secretly working for a crime family. He has to balance his criminal lifestyle with his police obligations. The project is co-produced by 20th Television and Imagine.
Fox is likely done with pilots for this season. Today’s orders bring its total up to eight drama pilots. (Last season, it only ordered five.) THe other pilots include Greg Kinnear’s Rake and a retelling of Sleepy Hollow.
