Star Wars writer-director George Lucas is engaged to DreamWorks animation chairman Mellody Hobson.
Lucas and Hobson, who have been romantically linked since 2006, have not released a comment regarding the engagement.
Lucas recently made headlines when he sold the Star Wars franchise to Disney for $4.05 billion. After the deal was set, Lucas donated the $4.05 billion to an education foundation. “As I start a new chapter in my life, it is gratifying that I have the opportunity to devote more time and resources to philanthropy,” Lucas said at the time.
Outside of DreamWorks, Hobson helps lead the Chicago based investment firm Ariel Mutual Funds. She also acts as a financial contributor to Good Morning America, THR notes.
This will mark the second marriage for 68-year-old Lucas, who was previously married to film editor Marcia Lou Griffin, and the first for 43-year-old Hobson.
Congratulations to the newly engaged couple!
