Since the announcement that a spin-off show to the popular sitcom Boy Meets World was happening, fans have been waiting to see who would play Cory and Topanga’s daughter. Now they can find out, as Girl Meets World has found its girl.
11-year-old actress Rowan Blanchard will star as Riley Matthews and the main character of the show, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Michael Jacobs, who is producing the pilot, said that they instantly knew Blanchard was the one for the part.
“As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews,” Jacob said. “Rowan is real and accessible and I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well.”
Blanchard, who has appeared in movies such as Spy Kids: All the Time in World in 4D and The Back-up Plan, seemed excited about being given the part, posting on her Twitter account:

Ben Savage, who plays Cory Matthews alongside Danielle Fishel, who plays Topanga Lawrence, also seemed excited about Blanchard’s casting, posting this message on his Twitter: “I have a beautiful, new daughter. Welcome to the family @rowblanchard! #GirlMeetsWorld.”
Production for the show is scheduled to begin in February, and if the series gets picked up, it will air later this year on Disney Channel.
