Helen Mirren gets star on Hollywood Walk of Fame next to Colin Firth

By Gina DiFalco,

Helen Mirren has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, right next to Colin Firth.

Mirren, who portrayed Queen Elizabeth in The Queen (2006), joked that it is “very good for the British monarchy that here on Hollywood Boulevard, the King and the Queen are going to actually sleep together, for the rest of history.” Firth famously portrayed Britain's King George VI in The King’s Speech (2010).

"I couldn't be prouder and more happy that I'm actually going to finally lie next to Colin Firth, something I've been wanting to do for a very long time," she also said, Reuters reports.

Mirren received an Oscar for her portrayal of the female monarch, while Firth also won Best Actor for his role in the 2010 film.

Hollywood.com reports that Mirren also joked about getting a coveted star on Hollywood Boulevard; "I'm so very, very proud to be henceforth walked upon, have fries dropped upon, maybe even be peed upon by future generations of tourists, Angelenos and their dogs. But please, please no chewing gum.”
