The Hunger Games fans are getting their first look at the sequel Catching Fire this week. The film, which doesn’t hit theaters until November, is also the most anticipated blockbuster of the year.
A Fandango survey of 2,000 film fans found that Catching Fire is the movie that most of them can’t wait to see, reports CBS News. Lionsgate’s adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ book beat out The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Iron-Man 3, Star Trek Into Darkness and The Great Gatsby.
Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly readers are getting a first look at the film this week. On Tuesday, the magazine posted an image of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen in its Facebook page to get readers ready.
The magazine’s cover shows Lawrence and Sam Claflin, who joins the cast as Finnick Odair. EW sat down with Lawrence, who spoke about meeting and working with new director Francis Lawrence. The I Am Legend helmer replaced Gary Ross, who directed The Hunger Games.
As usual, Lawrence gave a very funny and open interview. “It’s almost like I subconsciously don’t want to work anymore so I’m trying to ruin my career,” she laughed. Then, she spoke directly to the reporter’s tape recorder and said, “I’m pregnant!”
“I’m so aware of all the b.s. that surrounds Hollywood,” she explained, “and how everyone gets on this high horse and thinks that they’re curing cancer and it makes me so uncomfortable every time I see it. So I go in the exact opposite direction and end up saying something like ‘I’m pregnant!’ when I’m in two franchises.”
Lawrence, who will also star in the sequel to X-Men: First Class, had a big 2012 thanks to The Hunger Games and Silver Linings Playbook. It looks like she could have another big year thanks to Catching Fire.
The film hits theaters on Nov. 22.
